Description:
The Strategic Management module integrates many of the sub-disciplines studied in the EMBA program. Developing an understanding of when and how to apply concepts and techniques learned in the accounting, finance, management, and marketing modules bridge the gap between theory and practice. The emphasis is on combining analytical, integrative, and decision-making skills to plan and implement strategic direction for an enterprise. An analytical framework is
developed in a comprehensive case which permits identification of central issues and formulation of alternative, well-supported recommendations for future action.

The Strategy module is comprised of three elements that we will pursue simultaneously: Strategic process (Barney). In this element we will examine the strategic factors involved in strategically analyzing a business situation. Throughout the course you will be individually developing a strategy recommendation for a company of your choosing. In addition, you will be participating in a consulting assignment at AstroPower, a major hi-tech firm near Newark.

Global Strategy (Daniels, Radebaugh, and Sulivan) There are very few business left that do not depend for a large share of their revenue on foreign operations. We will examine most of the facets of competing successfully in the international arena. Tactical Strategy (Capstone). Capstone is a complex web-based computer simulation that
enables you to get hands-on experience in running a business as a member of a senior management team. Your management team will evaluate situations to make decisions in competition with other teams for resources and markets.
